About the Program
Instructors
Education is provided by our Clinical Specialists who have expertise in the application of Giraffe products in the clinical setting. Specialists are advanced practice nurses who are actively practicing in the neonatal area and bring their vast and unique clinical experience to each educational program.

Interactive Classroom Instruction
Learn in an interactive classroom setting through detailed slide presentations, class discussion and interaction with up to ten participants.

Ongoing Reference Materials
All participants receive a binder filled with reference material. The binder includes copies of each presentation provided during the training, clinical articles and product in-service support materials. A CD-ROM containing all electronic presentations is also included to provide additional resources following the program.

GE Healthcare is an approved provider of continuing education under the guidelines of the Alabama Board of Nursing and the California Board of Registered Nursing.

SpecialCare Series
Giraffe® OmniBed/Incubator structural overview
Two days of classroom instruction with a focus on basic thermoregulation concepts, including temperature control methods, admission practices and use of humidity.

IntensiveCare Series
Two additional days of classroom instruction that builds upon the information learned in the SpecialCare program.
Concepts surrounding the development of the optimal individualized microenvironment for the vulnerable newborn.
Content focuses on sound, light and touch issues in a developmental microenvironment. A presentation on neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is also provided.
Interactive sessions are offered for troubleshooting and using products to enhance procedural success and empowering parents.
Bedside consultation and case studies to problem-solve daily challenges in setting Giraffe up with respect to the unique characteristics of your nursery macroenvironment.
Assistance in establishing practice guidelines on phototherapy technology.
Access to Giraffe specific research publications on touch.

ExpertCare Series
Two additional days of classroom instruction that builds upon the content presented in the SpecialCare and IntensiveCare programs.
Hands-on experience and didactic information about creating the total healing environment, skin care and use of non-pharmacological comfort measures to soothe an infant in the Giraffe environment.

Additional Services
An environmental assessment of the physical characteristics of your NICU and a summary report provided to management at the conclusion of the program. Factors such as bed configuration strategies and practice guideline evaluation are included in the assessment.
