Going beyond Vendor Neutral Archiving with GE Universal Clinical Data Repository
Helping to enhance the quality of patient care and to address the needs of IT professionals, Centricity Enterprise Archive consolidates data from different departments into a single reliable system. It simplifies the archiving of “multi-ology” images, huge datasets, diagnostic reports, and other clinical information, delivering a universal clinical data repository. As such it brings to all institutions users a way to easily get access to consolidated patient data, going beyond a classical Vendor Neutral Archiving solution. |
|
| The unified, standards-based architecture that is delivered with the new archive technology, combined with support for IHE-XDS/XDSi and an intuitive, web-based viewer, enables healthcare organizations to realize their vision of multi-disciplinary information exchange. Even more, via one consolidated IT-infrastructure, enterprise-wide information archiving and viewing is supported across multiple vendors’ applications, contributing to complete neutrality. |
| Centricity Enterprise Archive has been running in many parts of the world for several years, where it has demonstrated its performance and scalability in large implementations, including Sweden, Canada, France, US, and the UK and is smoothly managing more than 60 million studies and 3 billion images. |
|
The GE Clinical Data Repository, based on Centricity Enterprise Archive technology brings benefits to IT professionals, radiologists, clinicians, and ultimately patients:
|
Consolidate access to patient data
Centricity Enterprise Archive proposes a single interface to all patient data. The global index is accessible by any application. Patient folders can therefore be accessed either through the new Centricity Patient Information View, or through any IHE-XDS compatible application.
|
Helping to reduce costs of information management
Stores DICOM and Non-DICOM data (JPG, PDF etc.), images and clinical information in a single repository, thus avoiding the constitution of unconnected data silos. The Information Lifecycle Manager (ILM) based on clinical rules, controls archived data and determines whether it needs to be compressed, decompressed, moved to another archive or deleted completely.
|
Reduce vendor dependency
Centricity Enterprise Archive enables image exchange across multiple vendor's data sources and applications. It supports DICOM, HL7 and IHE-XDS standards and is an ideal regional or national archiving solution in a multi-site, multi-format and multi-vendor environment. This multidimensional neutrality goes down to storage technologies and vendors.
|
Preserve investments
Centricity Enterprise Archive is standard based, both in terms of format and in terms of interfaces, allowing easy connection to present or future edge systems, virtually whatever they are. In addition, the ILM engine enables a smooth technology obsolescence management.

Benefit from hassle-free implementation and integration based on GE extensive experience
GE has built a large experience with implementing its Clinical Data Repository in various heterogeneous environments. Large implementations have been performed in different countries around the world, including Sweden, France, US, Canada. In the UK only, GE has around 250 archives installed in many different hospital sites. GE is managing around 13 million exams per year and more than one Petabyte of data have been archived on the solution since 2006. GE offers highly reliable architecture with business continuity and disaster recovery solutions. In order to deal with old legacy systems and smooth implementation for end users, GE has a dedicated data migration team, cumulating 200+ RIS/PACS migrations from different vendors.
