GE — A London 2012 Sponsor — Pledges Legacy Gift for Homerton University Hospital in East London
GE has announced plans to donate £4.8 million ($8 million) worth of medical equipment, including fetal monitors, incubators and MR scanner, to Homerton University Hospital in Hackney, East London. This pledge has the potential to reduce infant mortality rates across the Borough of Hackney in East London and make a significant contribution to the Government’s policy agenda on maternal and infant care.

GE and Asklepios Hospital Group have signed an agreement to create their first project in German healthcare to comprehensively address environmental issues. The renovation and expansion of one of the hospitals owned by Asklepios in Hamburg, Germany, known as the “Green” Hospitals project, will be their pilot hospital in Europe planned and designed on ecological principles.

In addition, the company will commit $2 billion of financing and $1 billion in related GE technology and content to drive healthcare information technology and health in rural and underserved areas.
