Diffusion Tensor Imaging extends the capablities of Diffusion Weighted imaging. Tensor imaging acquires from 6 to 55 orientations to differentiate tissue based on the degree of diffusion anisotrophy. Automated online processing produces image maps based on T2-weighted combined, ADC and fractional anisotropy.
