CT Scan of the Brain

Graphic

The use of DoseWatch, which allows to analyze our practice and our protocols, is of great value in helping radiologists and CT technologists to identify sub-optimal scanning protocols, to improve parameter settings, and reduce patient radiation dose. ”

Following the installation of DoseWatch, a collaboration around dose started within the hospital.
With DoseWatch, we were able to compare our 3 CT-scanners and the “dose team” worked on finding low-dose solutions. ”

CT Scan chest abdomen pelvis (802 exams)

Graphic

We worked with the DoseWatch™ team to do an in-depth analysis of our protocols. We focused on CAP because it is a frequently used and a higher exposure examination.
It’s a difficult protocol to optimize because we have multiple acquisitions, with 2 or 3 spirals. With the use of DoseWatch™ and the team’s expertise we were able to decrease the average CAP DLP from approximately 1000 mGy.cm to less than 700 mGy.cm. ”

CT Scan of Lumbar Spine

Graphic

DoseWatch data analysis allowed us to optimize our Lumbar Spine protocol resulting in lower dose while keeping pretty good image quality… When we got ASIR* in July, this also enabled us to considerably reduce the dose. DoseWatch gave us the necessary visibility to monitor and reduce dose. ”
