Lung VCAR

Lung VCAR:

Routine Benefits in the Management of Pulmonary Nodules.

Appropriate management of pulmonary nodules, frequently discovered during multi-slice CT examinations, is a daily challenge which has to be adapted according to the densitometric characteristics of the nodule and the context.

The lung VCAR programme is a system allowing automatic detection of pulmonary nodules combined with a volumetric assessment at initial and follow-up studies. The software also has the potential to calculate the proportion of tissular component in the case of mixed nodules, to assess the range of densities in other non-solid nodules, and evaluate their evolution over time.

The combination of density distribution and volumetric analysis appears particularly important for management of non-solid nodules, especially for the follow-up of « ground-glass » lesions with a great axis of less than 10 mm.
