SmartScore 4.0

Calcium Scoring with SmartScore 4.0™

SmartScore 4.0 is a non-invasive option for measuring and reporting coronary artery calcification scores. Currently there are two methods of acquiring EKG gated calcium scored images, which are both available on the LightSpeed™ CT:

Prospective Gating Retrospective Gating
- Activates X-ray only during heart’s diastolic phase - Provides flexibility to choose the best image for scoring
- Less dose to the patient - Advantageous for variable or inconsistent heart rates
- Less images to reconstruct - Saves works-in-progress
- Helps Improve Productivity

Processing with SmartScore

When the scan has been completed and transferred to the Advantage Windows Workstation™, use SmartScore 4.0 to process the coronary images by selecting and scoring the images via the user-friendly interface.

Image Selection Image Scoring
- Easy point-and-click image selection - Color coated artery mapping
- Quick comparison model - Single mouse click to color highlight calcium deposits
- Cine Loop Display
- EKG Waveform image mapping
- Save Work-In-Progress

Scoring with SmartScore

Scoring of the selected images/ROIs is divided into three steps; extracting intensity histograms for each image/region, computing image/region scores based on particular scoring procedures, and combining region scores for individual images into composite scores using slice-thickness weighting. This scoring method has been validated and compared to EBCT by our clinical customers.

SmartScore 4.0 software displays the calcium score in the following form:

  • Total calcium score
  • Individual coronary artery score
  • Individual slice calcium score
