Secondary Prevention

After one or more stroke events it is crucial to ensure that a patient recovers as much as possible and re-gains their lost or deteriorated functions such as seeing, walking and speaking. An essential need at this stage is to monitor the patient during the rehabilitation in hospital and after returning home, by his or her primary care physician.

In this secondary prevention phase, the more closely the patient is monitored, the more likely the secondary prevention will be successful.
