Dow R. Wilson, General Manager, Global Functional and Molecular Imaging
Hello! I'm Dow Wilson, Global General Manager for Functional Imaging at GE Medical Systems. Welcome to this year's RSNA.
GE has a long history of creating innovative products and services that improve people's lives. We are extremely excited about the new attention Functional Imaging is getting everywhere - from research and development and new products, to reimbursement, to the practitioners and finally, and most importantly, to the consumers and patients who will ultimately benefit from this technology.
At GE, we have the widest range of functional imaging solutions available in the market today. From our continuing research into gamma camera technology, to PET, PET/CT and Cyclotrons, to comprehensive workstations, ALL of our solutions are designed to help you help your patients.
This year at RSNA, GE Medical Systems will be showcasing many exciting advances in both Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography. For years, physicians have told us about the benefits of fusing CT and PET images for improving patient diagnostic outcomes. Until now, that usually required additional imaging time, separate patient positioning and painstaking image registration from two different scanners.
Today, GE is the first and only company to offer an entire line of combined PET/CT products that enables physicians to see and treat cancer more effectively than ever before. The GE Discovery LS™ is our State-of-the-Art PET/CT system that delivers a true hybrid image in 1/2 the time of traditional PET scanners, without repositioning the patient. Discovery LS combines GE's most sophisticated CT scanner, the LightSpeed Plus, with the most advanced PET system, the Advance NXi. But there is much, much more...
To fill out the most comprehensive portfolio available in the marketplace today, also on display is the Discovery VH, our SPECT/PET/CT hybrid imaging system. For SPECT/PET hybrid imaging, we are using our unique implementation of a 1" Starbright" crystal. This innovation brings you high-energy resolution without compromising low energy sensitivity.

For the optimal Cardiac Attenuation Correction, we are displaying the industry's only integrated SPECT/CT system, Hawkeye. To provide customers with the optimum imaging solutions possible, we're focused on bringing the entire virtual clinic together in a manner that is fast and efficient for both technologists and physicians.
On display will be our POWERstation and eNTEGRA workstations, which offer unprecedented speed, flexibility and departmental connectivity. But it's not just about imaging.
GE Medical recently finalized the strategic acquisition of Coincidence Technologies, a leader in the design, development and manufacturing of synthesis and handling units for PET radiopharmaceuticals. GE now offers all the tracer production tools needed for customers to set-up both PET distribution facilities and clinical sites. Coincidence's industry leading PET synthesis technology provides a strong foundation for tomorrow's molecular imaging chemistries. As you can see, this a very exciting time as we lead the future of diagnostic imaging!
At GE, we are also exploring the world of Molecular imaging and Medicine, which offers the promise of actually changing the definition of disease. Don't forget to stop by the Technology Pavilion at the GE booth, featuring our Molecular Imaging business.
Above all, at the show you will have the opportunity to speak with many physicians who have been performing groundbreaking research using PET-CT technology to improve diagnostic confidence and patient outcomes.
I hope that you will take the time to stop by our booth, and discover a whole new world of functional imaging. I look forward to seeing you in Chicago... Enjoy the show!
