GE Medical Systems Highlights New Motorized Mobile Digital Imaging System For Cardiovascular Procedures: OEC® 9800 MD

Waukesha, Wis. and Washington, D.C. – GE Medical Systems is highlighting its new OEC® 9800 MD at the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology (NASPE) 24th Annual Scientific Sessions in Washington, D.C. The OEC 9800 MD is a digital mobile imaging system with a fully motorized C-arm that allows physicians to position the system easily and create images of the coronary vessels with exceptional detail during heart procedures.

The OEC 9800 MD was designed by incorporating the ideas of hundreds of physicians worldwide. Its features were developed to address physicians’ priorities of superior image capture, management and recording, in addition to ease-of-use and productivity. Specifically, the new motorized C-arm allows a single user to control the system at the tableside, which helps optimize the valuable staff and resources in the cardiac cath lab.

“For years we have focused on inventing technologies that reach new levels of image quality and ease-of-use to support the growing number of minimally invasive procedures performed each year,” said Pat McNamee, General Manager of Surgical Imaging and Navigation at GE Medical Systems. “The OEC 9800 MD is the perfect example of a system that can help guide physicians during critical procedures in the cardiac cath lab.”

The OEC 9800 MD provides a full-range of features to optimize patient care and productivity in the cardiac cath lab including:
  • Proven 1k X 1k image resolution for exceptional detail
  • Fully motorized C-arm movements
  • Tableside user interface
  • Collision protection system
  • Heat management and output
  • DICOM 3.0 compatible
The OEC 9800 MD system received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in March. GE estimates that the system will be commercially available by August 2003.
