GE Medical Systems Signs Agreements With NeuroSource Inc. To Expand Consulting Offerings Available to Neuroscience Programs
Focus on Six Sigma-based performance improvement tools and techniques
WAUKESHA, Wis. and CHICAGO -- GE Medical Systems Healthcare Services, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), announced today that it has signed agreements with NeuroSource Inc., a healthcare consulting and services company focused on neuroscience programs, that will expand and improve the offerings available to neuroscience programs for market expansion and performance improvement.
NeuroSource works closely with providers and health systems to promote collaborative programs that deliver high-quality, cost-effective medical and surgical care. These agreements between GE Medical Systems Healthcare Services and NeuroSource will, among other things, facilitate the development of an integrated opportunity assessment and performance improvement consulting offering for neuroscience programs. The relationship established by the agreements will drive the expansion of current neuroscience capabilities, with the ultimate goal to improve medical and surgical treatment of brain and spine patients.
“We’re enthusiastic about this joint effort, as it represents a unique opportunity to provide the industry with a comprehensive consulting services offering tailored specifically to neuroscience service line development,” said Sridhar Seshadri, vice president and general manager within the GE Medical System Healthcare Services group. “Given the complexities involved with managing this specialty, providers are in need of more rigorous processes to assess market opportunities and measure and improve clinical and operational performance. Deploying such systems as either a new service line or as an enhancement to an existing one—using the rigor of Six Sigma and other best practices—is a challenge ideally suited to the combined strengths of both organizations.”
As a key part of this initiative along with combining their consulting strengths, a physician-led team will develop outcomes measures specific to the areas of brain and spine, which will be accessible and reportable through GE’s DYNAMO system for clinical analysis and benchmarking. The use of these standard measures will help to drive clinical quality assessments and improvements in care delivered to brain and spine patients.
“By forging this relationship, we’re seeking to increase market opportunities and improve operating efficiencies, while also enhancing the quality of care provided to customers in the area of brain and spine treatment – both medically and surgically,” said Bob Mayo, Vice President of Business Development at NeuroSource. “Partnering with GE allows us to leverage proven tools and techniques, while developing new solutions designed to address the range of issues faced by our affiliates in the neurosciences.”
