GE Medical Systems Brings Universal Connectivity and Commonality to Nuclear Medicine Workstations
Designed to Meet Physicians' Needs of Faster Access to More Applications

TORONTO, Ontario, Canada - GE Medical Systems today announced the availability of new innovative software applications on both the eNTEGRA and POWERstation functional imaging workstations, allowing better connectivity and improved workflow for physicians.

The eNTEGRA 2.0 and POWERstation's Vision 6.0 software, which are now available on the same hardware platform, provide processing and review solutions for use with any existing GE Medical System nuclear medicine camera currently in use. "GE designed these workstations so physicians can have access to both clinical applications and desktop capabilities, enabling faster connectivity both inside and outside the facility," said Beth Klein, Vice President and Global General Manager of Functional and Molecular Imaging.

The two workstations utilize the same Intel™-based PC platform with a user-friendly interface that includes several robust automated features allowing physicians to customize their patient review protocols. In addition, an eNTEGRA workstation is compatible with the DST-Xli – obtained as part of GE Medical's acquisition of Sopha Medical Vision -- and a POWERstation workstation can be paired with a GE Millennium MG.

"Workflow has always been a challenge for nuclear medicine departments," said Jack Andrew Ziffer, Ph.D., M.D., Director of Nuclear Medicine at Baptist Hospital of Miami and Director of Cardiac Imaging at Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute, Miami, Fla. "The new eNTEGRA Inbox streamlines the flow of information between the technologist, reviewing physician, and referring physician, which helps our department turn around diagnosis and other reports more quickly. It's an excellent tool for both routine and emergency reading."

In addition, these software releases offer optional components, which can enhance the speed of physician views on the workstation. For example, the Inbox for eNTEGRA improves physician workflow by allowing batch access and allocation of patient studies directly to physicians for review locally and remotely. Another new component is MyoSPECT,™ which provides eNTEGRA users with the industry-leading myocardial review package previously featured on the POWERstation. Other optional components include the Neurology suite of NeuroFuse,™ NeuroMatch,™ and NeuroGam,™ Cedars BPGS™ analysis of Gated Blood Pool SPECT, PERFEX,™ and Automatic Motion Correction.

The POWERstation has several new features and optional components including the Cedars suite of cardiac analysis packages and a Cerebral Analysis package. Additional productivity enhancements include expanded capabilities, including positron emission tomography DICOM, and better integration with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems.

As a next step, GE Medical Systems will be demonstrating at the Society of Nuclear Medicine show a work-in-progress handheld unit based on the eNTEGRA platform that will allow mobile image upload and download capabilities.
