TORONTO, CANADA - GE Healthcare announced today at the Society of Nuclear Medicine, the shipment of its 500th Infinia Nuclear Medicine Camera, just two years after its initial launch.

Infinia is an all-purpose single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/computed tomography (CT) imaging system, delivering unprecedented diagnostic confidence with detection and precise localization of disease. This system integrates SPECT and CT technologies, registering both images for a complete pathology picture in one exam. The GE Infinia uses the state-of-the-art processing speed, innovative productivity tools, and built-in connectivity of the Xeleris workstation.

Infinia also combines the versatility of a single-head gamma camera with the productivity of a dual-head design, facilitating maximum patient flexibility by allowing for all scanning positions in an ultra-rapid scan cycle. With the foundation of all-digital Elite™ detector technology and advanced image attenuation correction, Infinia delivers excellent SPECT reconstruction and unsurpassed image resolution.

"Reaching the 500th Infinia milestone so quickly reaffirms the clinical value of the Infinia system," said Gina Larkin, Marketing Manager of Nuclear Medicine at GE Healthcare. "The Infinia provides physicians with versatility, productivity, enhanced workflow, and diagnostic confidence - making a significant contribution to better patient care and effectiveness of treatments.”

GE’s technology leadership in Nuclear Medicine is delivering solutions today and for the future, offering superior clinical confidence to meet the challenges of any Nuclear Medicine department.
