CHALFONT ST GILES, UK - GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric (NYSE: GE), introduced today HiTrap(TM) MabSelect SuRe(TM), an industry first that improves the process of small-scale monoclonal and polyclonal antibody purification by allowing researchers to clean and reuse prepacked affinity columns.

HiTrap MabSelect SuRe are columns pre-packed with the new MabSelect SuRe, a chromatography medium that is resistant to harsh cleaning agents, such as 0.5 M NaOH. By combining the robust properties of the MabSelect SuRe medium with the convenience and reproducibility of the HiTrap column format the new columns answer the requirements of all researchers who ordinarily purify using conventional protein A products. Available in 1 ml and 5 ml sizes the HiTrap MabSelect SuRe columns are ideal for routine purification of monoclonal antibodies and equally useful for process development that can be scaled-up with MabSelect SuRe media.

“ Monoclonal antibodies are increasingly important as therapies, especially in cancer management and chronic infectious diseases treatments. HiTrap MabSelect SuRe offers time savings, purification reproducibility and ease of use. The robust cleaning procedures ensure that there is no contamination from sample to sample,” said Allan Simpson, Vice President of Research & Analysis, Protein Separations at GE Healthcare. “GE Healthcare is committed to designing innovative tools for our research customers in the biopharmaceutical industry.”

Additionally, GE Healthcare offers a comprehensive solution to researchers for high throughput monoclonal purification, as these new HiTrap columns are an integral part GE Healthcare's ÄKTAdesignTM and ÄKTAxpressTM platforms, designed to help researchers completely automate the purification process and ensure reproducible results.
