ORLANDO, FL - GE Healthcare has developed a cardiology imaging application designed to deliver advanced cardiac analysis tools using on demand access to a fully integrated cardiology and radiology imaging enterprise. This application, Centricity® Cardiology CA 1000, can act as a dedicated modality workstation, a departmental solution when combined with an archive systems, or an enterprise-wide solution with Centricity PACS. Recently installed at HCA Richmond, CA 1000 is one of GE’s cardiology solutions showcased at the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) Annual Scientific Session in Orlando, Florida. Radiology and cardiology have traditionally used department-dedicated PACS, which can inhibit clinician access to important patient data and images. Using GE’s new CA 1000 solution, caregivers now have access to a single, comprehensive patient jacket for both radiology and cardiology images without compromising the deep clinical tools and workflow needed in the cardiac department, according to Peter McClennen, global general manager, GE Healthcare Imaging and Information Systems. “This innovative PACS product will offer multi-site healthcare systems, like HCA Richmond, a solution to both siloed information and the demanding IT upkeep for disparate systems,” said McClennen. “The CA 1000 is a single IT investment with multi-modality and enterprise capabilities. Combined with Centricity PACS, it streamlines cardiac workflow and eases administrative and maintenance needs for the facilities.” Based in Richmond, Va., HCA Richmond’s seven metropolis-wide facilities can now leverage one complete PACS system and IT support team across both radiology and cardiology departments. Referring physicians will use a single Web portal in Centricity Web for access to both radiology and cardiology systems, including ECG images. Richmond will also implement GE’s Centricity Data Management System, with dedicated electronic workflow and administration for the cardiac department, to complement the imaging system. “The GE enterprise PACS system is an integral part of our IT strategy. The single database, infrastructure, archive and Web greatly simplifies without compromising,” said Kim Harrison, manager of PACS at HCA Richmond. “Innovative IT solutions like this offer mutual benefits for the multiple departments in a single system infrastructure. It’s a smart investment.” Centricity CA1000 is fully scalable so the workstation can be adapted to different facility needs and is now available globally. |
